Document Delivery

The following options are the most cost effective full-text document delivery solutions currently available to HKN customers.

Option 1
If your institution has a library, go to that library to obtain the document or to arrange for document delivery services.

Option 2
If your institution has a library, but no document delivery service, the library can arrange to have this service offered through the University of Calgary or the University of Alberta.

Option 3
If you are an individual and do not have document delivery services through your organization, you can order directly from the University of Calgary or the University of Alberta. Please note that your order can only be filled if the document is locally held by either university.

How to set up Option 3

Contact either university to set up a document delivery account. Once your account has been set up you will be required to submit your requests through a web-based form. The requested document(s) will be mailed or faxed directly to you by either the University of Calgary or the University of Alberta.

Billing Information

You will be billed directly by the university through which you set up your document delivery account. The person who ordered the document is responsible for payment.

Order by: Online form
Turnaround: Orders sent out in 3-7 working days
Delivery Method: Mail
Rate: $10/document (Includes cost of delivery by mail)

Rush Service
Order by: Telephone the university library first
Turnaround: Orders sent out same day
Delivery Method: Fax
Rate: $10/document plus $20 rush surcharge

The Health Knowledge Network is currently looking at ways to implement a Document Delivery Service for its subscribers. If you require an article(s) and do not have access to a document delivery service, the following are ways you can obtain an article:

If you are member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the CFPC offers a number of services for its members, including literature searches and document delivery. Information on their services can be found at http://www.cfpc.ca/English/CFPC/CLFM/services.

Loansome Doc is a service run by the National Library of Medicine which allows searchers to order full-text articles from a medical library. Visit here for more information.
